ETIM via BMEcat 3.1

Finfo can receive and import BMEcat files according to the ETIM specification. These files should be sent to info@finfo.se, where we will process the file and report any discrepancies. The specification for the BMEcat format can be found here. Finfo can also assist you with validation of the file against the BMEcat standard during testing.

BMEcat

BMEcat is a well-established XML format for exchanging product information and is widely used, particularly in procurement, catalog integration, and master data management. The format was originally developed in Germany and has become something of a standard in industries where large volumes of product data need to be handled in a structured and consistent way.

One of BMEcat’s main strengths is its general and comprehensive scope. It can include more than just technical specifications, such as prices, logistics details, images, and multiple classification systems beyond ETIM. This makes the format useful in situations where the entire business catalog needs to be transferred between parties.

Workflow

From Supplier to Retail

The supplier classifies its products according to ETIM directly in its PIM system. Once the data is complete, it is structured and exported in a BMEcat format. The file is then sent to Finfo, which acts as a central hub in the data flow. Finfo imports the file, validates its contents, and provides feedback to the supplier if anything is missing or needs correction. In this way, high data quality is ensured before the information reaches the market.

Once validation is complete, the data is distributed via Finfo’s API to connected information recipients. These recipients can then integrate the product information directly into their own systems, such as websites, e-commerce platforms, catalogs, and ERP systems, creating an efficient, consistent, and automated data flow throughout the entire chain.
