Information and description
According to the regulations, only one article number is allowed per defined physical product. Sometimes a supplier creates multiple article numbers for the same product, for example due to having several production sites. This may also be related to different freight distances to each customer, where the intent of using different article numbers is to compensate for transportation costs. Within the logic of the regulation, this practice is not permitted and therefore cannot be applied.
Batch
Products with, for example, structural and/or color variations that affect the final result after installation should be differentiated using batch numbers. For instance, wallpaper rolls are always marked with a batch number (often related to color batches). When fulfilling a customer order, rolls with different batch numbers are never mixed, to avoid color variations between strips once installed.
This means that:
-
Each production or production occasion is defined by a batch number.
-
Each package related to that production or production occasion is labeled with this batch number.
-
Each customer-specific order is picked from packages with the same batch number.
-
When supplementing an order, replenishment must come from the same batch number.
