To inform recipients of product data that articles are being discontinued, specific codes are used to indicate the reason and timing of the discontinuation. There is also the possibility to report a replacement article number.

Code |
Description |
Information |
|---|---|---|
|
01 |
Will be discontinued without replacement |
Initiates a future discontinuation process where no replacement article exists. The initiation date is not in the future. Orders and price transactions continue, and phase-out planning may begin. The next step is to share status code 4. |
|
02 |
Will be discontinued and replaced with an equivalent product |
Initiates a future discontinuation process where a replacement article exists. The initiation date is not in the future. Orders and price transactions continue, and phase-out planning may begin. The next step is to share status code 4. |
|
03 |
Temporarily out of assortment |
Used for articles that are temporarily out of assortment but not permanently discontinued (for example, seasonal items). The date must not be more than 14 days in the future. This code is not preceded by code 01, 02, or 05. When this code is active, order transactions between seller and buyer are temporarily stopped. It may be followed by code 04 if the article is permanently discontinued; otherwise, the code is removed when the article returns to the assortment. |
|
04 |
Discontinued and sold out |
The article is discontinued. The discontinuation date must not be more than 14 days in the future. This code should always follow codes 01, 02, and 05, but can also be used independently. When this code is active, all transaction flows between seller and buyer cease. |
|
05 |
Will be discontinued and replaced with an identical equivalent product |
Initiates a future discontinuation process where a replacement article with identical properties exists. The initiation date is not in the future. Orders and price transactions continue, and phase-out planning may begin. The next step is to share status code 4. |
|
90 |
Cleanup code for removal |
Used for incorrectly registered articles that never existed, and for discontinued articles with a discontinuation date older than two years and discontinuation code 04. These articles are given code 90 and distributed once more as a signal that the article can be removed; after that, the article will no longer be distributed. |
