VilmaBas Product ID

Information and Description

Vilma has developed a property-defined product assortment, initially focused on wood products. Each unique product is described by a set of defined characteristics, and the combination of these values forms the foundation of a VilmaBas product. To identify each unique product, a VB number (VilmaBas Product ID) is assigned to the corresponding description, known as the Property Declaration.

Manufacturers can assess their products against the defined properties, and if they match, they can link the relevant VB number to their product’s article information. The VilmaBas Product ID and its Property Declarations provide a clear reference and product description that support communication between suppliers and customers.

Quality assurance

To ensure that products meet the established requirements within the supply chain, the following conditions apply:

  • The company producing VilmaBas products must be a certified Vilma supplier.

  • The supplier must specify the VB number assigned to each product. Together with the GTIN, this ensures full traceability of the product back to the original manufacturer, even if it is sold under the VB number. Once a VB number has been assigned to an article, it cannot be replaced.

  • Retailers, upon receiving goods, must check the moisture content and handle storage according to current recommendations. During delivery, they must also perform and document the required inspections.

  • The end customer must verify that the product’s VB number matches the ordered item and perform suitable inspections of measurable properties. Storage must follow the guidelines in Svenskt Trä’s publication “Handle Wood Correctly” (Hantera virket rätt).

Article file

Subscribers to VilmaBas can download an article file from Finfo containing VilmaBas products in the Vilma format. The products in this file are linked to profile images and property declarations.

Responsibilities

Supplier

Products that match VilmaBas products must be assigned a VilmaBas Product ID (VB number). If a supplier has initially submitted an incorrect VilmaBas number for an article, it can be corrected. If a VilmaBas number is discontinued, it must be updated on the existing article.

Finfo

During registration, Finfo verifies that the products are linked to valid VB numbers.
Quality control includes:

  • Ensuring the BASART field contains a valid VilmaBas number.

  • Checking that the number corresponds correctly with the product name (Benämning).

Recipient

For the customer, the VilmaBas Product ID serves as a reference for products that match the relevant Property Declarations. The value must therefore be searchable and usable as a filter or selection criterion within their system.
