Article Number Change

Information and Description

Used when a supplier needs to change article numbers, for example when switching to a new business system that introduces a new numbering series.

During the article number change, both the GTIN and Finfo number remain the same.

1. Notify Finfo of the Change

Inform Finfo by email that you plan to perform an article number change for existing products.
It is recommended that no other article information is modified during this process.
If changes are necessary, specify which information you intend to update in the same email.

Finfo will notify you when it is time for the next step.

2. Prepare Documentation

Write an information letter intended for your customers.
The letter must include:

  • A reason for the article number change

  • Information about the scope/number of affected articles

  • The effective date of the change

Email the documentation to Finfo, which will forward it to your subscribers for notification.

Information about the change must reach Finfo no later than six weeks before the effective date.

3. Execution

The supplier provides a new item number for an existing product, along with the previous item number and the date when the change will take place.

The supplier then prepares new agreement files for customers, including net prices linked to the new item numbers, and submits an article file together with the affected customer-specific agreement files.
