Date of Article Number Change

Field codes IN KNFARTLDAT | OUT WIFARTLDAT | API supplierPreviousArticleNumberChangeDate| Date format YYYYMMDD

Definition

This field specifies the date when the supplier’s article number is replaced with a new article number.

Explanation

The field is used when an item receives a new article number but should still be regarded as the same product in Finfo’s system. In such cases, the Finfo number is normally retained, allowing recipients to continue tracking the item and its history without it being interpreted as a completely new product.

When changing the article number, the field Supplier’s Previous Article Number must also be completed, so that it is clearly stated which article number is being replaced.

The Finfo number can be retained as long as no other changes are made that require a new GTIN. If the change means that the GTIN must be updated according to applicable GTIN rules, the item may need to be handled as a new product by recipients.

Usage

The supplier specifies the date of the article number change.

Finfo verifies that the date format is correct and that Supplier’s Previous Article Number is provided.

Recipients register the date as the discontinuation date for the old article number and replace it with the new one in their systems.
