Information and description
A SCIP number is a unique identifier showing that a product has been registered in the EU’s SCIP database. The number is used to share information about products containing substances of very high concern (SVHC) and to meet legal requirements.
The SCIP database is managed by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and collects information about products containing SVHC substances in accordance with the EU’s REACH legislation.
When a supplier registers a product in SCIP, it receives a SCIP number. This number can then be shared throughout the supply chain and used by other stakeholders (e.g., customers or resellers) to demonstrate that product information is registered and to fulfill legal obligations.
Some articles may have more than one number—for example, one for the product and one for the packaging. In such cases, both numbers must be provided.
